Bookanistas: THE LIAR SOCIETY

Things I love: Mysteries. Sarcasm. Great people.

Enter: THE LIAR SOCIETY

No, wait. First enter: Lisa and Laura Roecker

Because this world is ridiculously small, I was originally cyber-introduced to Laura through my neighbor, who is actually her sister-in-law. Laura therefore became The First Person I Knew In Publishing. And she was always willing to answer my countless publishing questions and share her experiences with me. I even got to meet Laura when she came to visit my neighbor, and, bonus points, she didn’t run away when she saw me (look, I was in the middle of revisions, and there are very few things scarier than an author in the midst of revisions).

So, needless to say, I had been looking forward to this book for a while, purely because the authors are awesome people.

And then I read this blurb from Goodreads:

Kate Lowry didn't think dead best friends could send e-mails. But when she gets an e-mail from Grace, she’s not so sure.

Kate,
I'm here…
sort of.
Find Cameron.
He knows.
I shouldn't be writing.
Don't tell.
They'll hurt you.

Now Kate has no choice but to prove once and for all that Grace’s death was more than just a tragic accident. But secrets haunt the halls of her elite private school. Secrets people will do anything to protect. Even if it means getting rid of the girl trying to solve a murder...

Cue. Excitement. A mystery, a prep school with long-standing traditions and buried secrets, and maybe even a ghost (which I love (only in book form, though – real ghosts, not so much)). I flew through this book. Seriously. It’s a fast-paced mystery, which somehow manages to be both fun (a sarcastic Nancy Drew!) and dark (she’s searching for answers surrounding her best friend’s death), suspenseful (someone’s trying really hard to keep her from finding the answers) and hilarious (just wait until you meet her love-sick side-kick).

THE LIAR SOCIETY has both mystery and heart, light and dark. And some kick-ass authors.

It comes out on March 1st, but is available for preorder NOW.
